Juvenile Officer’s Mandate
The juvenile officer carries out police surveillance in the high school to prevent and reduce criminality. He acts as a contact person with students and teachers with respect to issues affecting them. He ensures the safety of individuals and the application of laws in case of criminal incidence occurring at the school and in the surrounding areas. By adopting an educational approach, he informs the students about the nature of his work and raises awareness about the consequences of criminal activity in the society.
Juvenile Officer’s Responsibilities
- Conduct of foot patrols in the school during peak hours;
- Prevention and application of provincial and federal laws;
- Reception and investigation of complaints;
- Arrangement of information sessions and presentations;
- Involvement in some educational and social activities;
- Committee organization for problem solving;
- Upkeep of weekly statistics (contributions and activities); and
- Drafting of a final report.
